Knowledge
High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or GED is typically the minimum educational requirement.
Skills
Blueprint Reading: A CNC Milling Operator should be able to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints to correctly set up and operate the CNC milling machines.
Mathematical Skills: A strong understanding of basic math, including geometry and algebra, is essential for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and angles when setting up machines.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with CNC machinery and operating systems (like FANUC, Siemens, or Haas controllers) and basic maintenance skills are important.
Abilities
Machine Operation: Ability to operate CNC machines, following pre-programmed instructions or making manual adjustments to ensure that parts are produced according to specifications.
Tool Changes and Adjustments: Ability to change tools or adjust cutting speeds, feeds, and other machine parameters during production to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
Knowledge of CNC Controls: Ability to work with different types of CNC machine controls (e.g., FANUC, Siemens, Haas, or Mazak systems), adjusting parameters to meet job requirements.
Reading Engineering Drawings: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand part dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
Understanding Conversion of Units: Ability to convert measurements between metric and imperial units and apply those conversions in machining tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Setup: Prepare CNC machines by setting up tools, materials, and programming the machine.
Operation: Operate CNC machines to produce parts according to technical specifications.
Quality Control: Inspect parts for accuracy, measure dimensions, and ensure they meet quality standards.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and keep the work area clean and organized.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of production, machine settings, and quality checks.
